Wilma Louise (Gambill) Mahala

Wilma Louise Gambill Mahala age 73 of Creston passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She was born on Monday, August 21, 1944 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Roy D. and Bonnie Jones Gambill.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mahala was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Mahala, three sisters; Shirley “Shirl” June Lipford, Linda Sue Osborne, Joann B. Potter and two nieces; Lesia J. Gambill and Lisa Ann Ramirez.  Mrs. Mahala was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church in Creston.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved her animals; her dog, Brownie, donkey, Jake and her pet turtle, Angie.

Mrs. Mahala is survived by her son, Melton Mahala of the home, daughter, Sherrie Mahala of Creston, brother, Glen Gambill and wife Shirley of Creston, sister, Pearl and husband Ray Osborne of Mountain City.  Four grandchildren; Matthew Sturgill and Allison of Creston, Billy Arnold and Jennifer Griffen of Creston, Zachary Graybeal of Creston and Destiney Cummings of Creston, two great-grandchildren; Alyvia and Hunter Sturgill, two aunts; Ruth Potter of Mountain City and Effie Gambill of Creston.  Special friend and caregiver, Jennifer Griffen and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Three Forks Baptist Church in Creston by Rev. Gary Gambill and Brother Anthony Roark.  Burial will follow in the Roark Mahala Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
