Thomas "Tom" Carroll Miller

Thomas Carroll Miller, better known as Tom, age 78 of Jefferson died on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on Sunday, August 20, 1939 to Walter Todd and Chessie Mae Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, three brothers, Ray Miller, Bill Miller, and Jim Miller; two sisters, Donna Stanley and Faye Flanagan; two grandsons, Charles Miller and Michael Patrick; his first wife, Ava Nell Howell Miller; his second wife, Virginia Faye Beach Miller. Tom retired from Skyline Telephone. He enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo, telling stories, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in West Jefferson by Rev. Kirby McNeill, Rev. Lloyd Day, and Rev. Jimmy Williams. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Miller is survived by: one son, Greg Miller and wife Shirley of West Jefferson; two daughters, Shelby Patrick and husband Lester of Purlear and Sarah Dillard and husband Joe of West Jefferson; one sister, Betty Gambill of West Jefferson; also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
