Thomas Harold Carpenter, better known as “T.C”, age 71 of Creston passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in his home surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born August 11, 1952 to the late Elder General Grant Carpenter and Ruth Richardson Carpenter. Tom was born in the Pond Mountain Community of Ashe County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dennis Carpenter, Denver Carpenter, Rev. Roger Carpenter Sr. and wife Kathy. Sisters, Jannette Carpenter Miller, Ruby Carpenter Roland and Minnie Carpenter. Brother in laws, Paul Payne and Charles Dixon.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping and riding motorcycles. Tom also enjoyed football, NASCAR, bowling and various other activities. While Tom never had any children of his own, he enjoyed spending time with family. He retired from AEV where he worked for 21 years.
Those left to cherish his memories are sisters, ImaJean Payne and Carol Dixon, brother, Darrell Carpenter and wife Elaine. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Carpenter Jr., Chris Carpenter, Ronnie Johnson, Mike Payne Sr., Scott Miller and Mark Miller.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 2:00-3:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Graveside Services will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by Pastors Anthony Roark and Brian Weaver.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Pond Mountain Volunteer Fire Department or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
