Ruby Josephine (Childers) Bledsoe

Ruby Josephine Childers Bledsoe, better known as “Josephine,” age 79 of Warrensville passed away Sunday evening, January 22, 2023, at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bledsoe was born March 28, 1943, in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Arthur and Rosa Childers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Delmer Childers, and one sister, Hazel Yates. 

Mrs. Bledsoe was a member of Warrensville Baptist Church where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher and Children’s Church leader for well over 50 years. While she had no children of her own, her many nieces and nephews filled that void as well as the children that passed through her class. She worked for many years at Jefferson Apparel working her way up to various supervisory positions until the factory’s closing. At that point she obtained her CNA license and worked with Ashe Services for the Aging.  

Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her husband, Dan Bledsoe; two brothers, Roger and wife Barbara of Jefferson, and James and wife Janet of Elloree, South Carolina; two sisters, Eva Miller of Bradenton, Florida, and Betty Norris and husband Ronnie of Todd; one sister-in-law, Alma Childers of Bradenton, Florida; two step-children; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Warrensville Baptist Church by Rev. Jackie Stone. 

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
