Opal Bare Morris

Opal Bare Morris age, 92 of Laurel Springs passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.  Mrs. Morris was born on April 15, 1930 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Chauncey and Lola Richardson Bare.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Morris and special cousin, Wanda Mabe.

Mrs. Morris was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Laurel Springs.  Opal enjoyed the simple things in life, she will be remebered as a frugal and hard working woman.  One of her favorite things was being able to enjoy sweets and desserts.  In her younger years, Opal spent her time gardening, farming, raising chickens and bee keeping.

Opal is survived by several cousins, including Dean Mabe of Sparta, several special friends and neighbors including, Linda Nipper, Lisa West, Josephine Reeves and Tony Stone.

Mrs. Morris' family would like to extend their gratitude to the volunteers for the Meals on Wheels program as well as other friends and neighbors who helped make it possible for Opal to remain in her home throughout the years.  All of the meals, calls, visits and prayers have been greatly appreciated.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. Danny Pruitt.
