Myrtle Dean (Jarvis) Howell

Myrtle Dean Jarvis Howell, better known as Deanie passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Generations Ashe Assisted Living. Mrs. Howell was born in Ashe County to the late William Franklin Jarvis and Addie Comer Jarvis on May 5, 1933. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Calvin Howell, three sons, Calvin, Alvin, and Bobbie Ray Howell, and one granddaughter, Emmily Howell. Myrtle was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. She was a wonderful, and compassionate mother who was devoted to her family. She worked very hard throughout her life and always said, “God will take care of me.” She loved her neighbors and would do what she could to help those around her. Myrtle was a great cook – always willing to share with visitors. She loved talking to people. Mrs. Howell will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was saved as a young girl; she always said, “I love the Lord, and he loves me and takes care of me.”

Mrs. Howell is survived by, one daughter, Dony Howell Miller (Lloyd) of West Jefferson, three sons, Jimmy Howell of West Jefferson, Carson Howell of West Jefferson, and Dennis Howell of Wilkesboro, eight grandchildren, Felicia Miller, Malisha Henson, Joni Hart, Kristy McNeil, April Howell, Bridgett Renkert, Steven Howell and Scottie Howell. 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Jack Pugh. Burial will follow in the Howell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service.
