Jerry Rex Jones

In loving memory of Jerry Rex Jones age 69 of West Jefferson, a devoted husband, cherished father, doting grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord. Born in Ashe County to the late Worth Avery and Delra Roten Jones on Sunday, August 9, 1953 and departing from this earthly realm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, one brother, Joseph Worth Jones and one sister, Juanita Jones Leek.

On May 5, 1970, Jerry embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married his beloved wife, Ann. Together, they shared countless joys, challenges, and blessings, building a strong foundation for their family. As a member of Warrensville Baptist Church, Jerry served as a deacon, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his faith and the congregation he cared for deeply. His devotion to the Lord was unparalleled, and he led by example, putting God first in everything he did. Family was at the core of Jerry's life, and his dedication to his loved ones was unwavering. His grandchildren affectionately called him GP, a testament to the special bond they shared. Jerry embraced the joys of grandparenthood with open arms, creating lasting memories and imparting wisdom and love. He had a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature. He found solace in the great outdoors, spending cherished moments fishing and camping. Animals of all kinds held a special place in his heart, and his compassion for them knew no bounds. One of Jerry's defining qualities was his unwavering positivity and upbeat spirit. He believed that there was good in everything and spread this optimism to all who crossed his path. His contagious smile and kind words brightened the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impact.

Mr. Jones is survived by: his wife, Ann Stringer Jones, one son, Jeff Jones and wife Lisa of West Jefferson, one daughter, Kristy Treadway and husband David of Purlear, one brother, Wayne Jones of Warrensville, four grandchildren, Hanna, Lora, Abby and Brock Jones, two step grandchildren, Tiffany Jones and John Jones, one great-grandson, Everett Byrd; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Warrensville Baptist Church by Rev. Jackie Stone and Rev. Todd Brewer. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of his daughter at 1495 Stanton Loop Road, Purlear, NC.
