Jean Mash Sturgill

Jean Mash Sturgill age 85 of Grassy Creek passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Margate Health and Rehab.  Mrs. Sturgill was born on June 13, 1937 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Claude and Estel Eller Mash.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Sturgill, three sisters, Mary Chatham, Muriel Greer and Madge Hudler as well as two brothers, Clate and Kyle Mash.

Mrs. Sturgill taught English for many years at both Northwest High School and Wilkes Community College.  Jean was an avid reader and she was also very dedicated to reading her Bible.

Mrs. Sturgill is survived by one brother, Kenneth Mash and wife, Carolyn of Jefferson one sister, Maye Houck of Jefferson and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Claude Mash Cemetery by Rev. Nathan Mash.
