James Robert Miller

James Robert Miller, age 79 affectionately known as papaw, passed away peacefully Friday, October 28, 2022 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer.  Mr. Miller was born April 15, 1943 in Ashe County to the late Kelce and Ida Mae Severt Miller.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Paula Lambert Miller, brother, Sammy Miller and grandson, Cory David Little.  James spent over 50 years serving the residents of Ashe County and Boone repairing small engines and equipment.  He was loved by everyone who ever met him.  He was kind, caring and funny.  He loved a good joke and more than anything he loved his family.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, November 4, 2022 at Badger Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mr. Miller is survived by, his daughter, Jeanette Little of Jefferson, son, Kevin Miller and wife Joy of Todd, brothers, Jerry Miller of West Jefferson and Buddy Miller of Warrensville and sisters, Wilda Woodie, Juanita Farmer and Glenda Wagoner all of West Jefferson.  5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family is grateful to granddaughter, Ashley for being able to come and care for her papaw.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
