Imogene Cordelia (Gentry) Stevens

Imogene Cordelia Gentry Stevens, age 83 of West Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her home.  Mrs. Stevens was born March 3, 1939 in Ashe County to the late Floyd Franklin Gentry and Bertha Irene Lewis Gentry.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Wade Stevens, sons, Jerry Stevens, John Wade Stevens Jr. and Jimmy Darrell Stevens, daughter, Alecia Kay Stevens Hayworth, brothers, George Terrill Gentry, John Dallas Gentry and Joseph Curtis Gentry and grandson, Joshua Clay Stevens.

Imogene was a good Christian woman and she loved arts and crafts, baking and gardening.  She loved all of her grandchildren very much and served as a foster grandparent at local schools.  After retirement she served on the Board of Elections for many years.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by her son, Jeffery Stevens of West Jefferson, daughter, Karen McMillian of Jefferson and sister, Wanda Evelyn Jones of Kernersville. 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00pm at Bald Mountain Baptist Chuch with Rev. Shane Hopkins, Rev. Jack Pugh and Rev. Burl Greer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bald Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mrs. Stevens will lie in state from 11:00-12:00pm at the church, the family will not be present during this time.  The family will be present to recieve friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the funeral service.
