Helen (Brooks) Robinson

Helen Brooks Robinson, age 84 of Warrensville, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Robinson was born on October 18, 1938 in Ashe County to John Henry Brooks and Lou Laura Blackburn Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Blann Robinson, and ten siblings, Jay Brooks, Bunk Brooks, Shirley Anderson, Pauline Tipton, Inis Burchette, Charlie Brooks, Fred Brooks, Harold Brooks, Ivory Dean Brooks, and Bessie Cornett.

Mrs. Robinson enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and canning. She began working with the school system in 1976 at Riverview Elementary School and then moved to Blue Ridge Elementary School. During that time she served in many different roles from bus driver to teacher's assistant, and lastly as a foster grandparent. She was a story teller and hard worker with a strong will and morals. She loved her family and was a friend to everyone. Mrs. Robinson always wanted everyone to do their best and had a strong urge to see that children got a good education. She felt that every child deserves a champion and Helen was that to many.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by:  two daughters, Jo Evelyn Miller (Rick) of Boone and Penny Barnes (Garrett) of Creston; five grandchildren, Brittany Critcher (Isaac), Brooke Meuth (James), Bethany Miller (Joel Borawski), Dalton Barnes, and Tyler Barnes (Emily Reed); five great-grandchildren, Logan, Sawyer, Austin, Bailyn, and Robby; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Dwight Shepherd. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
