Eric McKinley Houck

Eric McKinley Houck, age 39 of West Jefferson, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home.  Eric was born January 23, 1981 in Ashe County to Steven and Betty Maine Houck.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jean Houck, Dean Houck, Gene Maine, JoAnn Wood and aunts, Beth Houck, Sherri Krider and Peggy Ryan. Eric graduated from Beaver Creek High School and Appalachian State University.  He was an avid sports fan, UNC was one of his favorite teams.  His many interests included hunting, fishing, studying astrology and the weather.  His favorite thing was spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Bald Mountain Baptist Church by Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Jack Pugh.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Houck will lie in state from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Houck is survived by his parents, Steve and Betty Maine Houck of West Jefferson, two brothers, Brian Houck and wife Tobi of West Jefferson & Lance Houck and wife Cara of Wilmington, aunts, Nancy Stevens, special aunt, Glenda Stevens, uncle, Dean Maine, nieces, Kennedy Houck of West Jefferson and Lilah Houck of Wilmington, nephews, Ethan Houck of West Jefferson and Lukas Houck of Wilmington.  Several cousins also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family c/o Badger Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., West Jefferson, NC  28694.

The family will be meeting at his parent’s home at 113 Current Dr. in West Jefferson
