Ellamae (Blevins) Francis

Ellamae Blevins Francis, age 92 of Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Francis was born July 21, 1931 in West Virginia to the late Oscar and Maggie Blevins.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband James Francis, seven brothers and two sisters and her beloved great-granddaughter, Kendra Wheeler. 

She was a faithful member of Silas Creek Baptist Church. Ellamae enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family. She retired from Sprague Electric Company after 30 years of service.  Ellamae was known for singing to the residents at Segraves Nursing Facility. She loved going shopping and walking with her best friend and sister, Wilma Richardson. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Fred Richardson and Rev. Benny Roten.  Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, August 25th at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Francis is survived by her daughters, Janie Reed and Barbara Oliver both of Jefferson, Dot Phillips (Eddie) of Boone, JoAnn Church (Roger) of Lansing and Sharon Lewis (Harold) of Warrensville, sister, Wilma Richardson of  Lansing, brothers, Marvin Blevins of Lansing and Montie Blevins (Angie) of Lyman, SC. 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
