Betty Lou (Hale) Testerman

Betty Lou Hale Testerman age 83 of West Jefferson died on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mrs. Testerman was born on Monday, November 5, 1934 in Wilkes County, North Carolina to the late Johnson “Moody” and Vergie Blevins Hale.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Lacy” Testerman and her nephew, Jeffery Severt.  Betty Lou was a lifetime member of Little Helton Baptist Church.  She was a devoted Christian and loved reading her Bible.  When her health allowed she enjoyed tending to her flowers, working in her garden and traveling.  Mrs. Testerman was an excellent cook and was especially famous for the candy she made.  Betty Lou was a generous woman and cared deeply for others.  She will always be remembered as a loving sister and aunt.

Mrs. Testerman is survived by her sister, Janet Severt and husband Robert of Crumpler, one niece, Dr. Tammy Severt and husband Dr. Dale Thompson of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and great-niece, Mariella Thompson.  Several other nieces and nephews of her husband’s side of the family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Brooks and Rev. Steve LeaShomb.  Burial will follow in the Baptist Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service.
