Bernard D. Bare

Bernard D. Bare, age 86 of Jefferson, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Ashe Assisted Living.  Mr. Bare was born April 27, 1931 in Crumpler, WV to the late Sam and Mary Poe Bare.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Bare, daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Bare and brother, Carl Dean Bare.

Bernard was a member of Warrington Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL serving as deacon before returning to Ashe and joining Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. He was a member of the Jefferson Camp of the Gideons.  Mr. Bare served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He retired after 34 years of US Civil Service to the Naval Air Rework Facility.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. David Blackburn and Rev. Cory Halsey.  Burial will follow in West Jefferson City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 AM prior to the service.

Mr. Bare is survived by, daughter, Lisa Wagner and husband Steve of FL, son, Gary Bare of FL, sister, Barbara Staley of Crumpler, four grandchildren, Jacob Wagner and wife Brandy, Shane Wagner and wife Ashley, Taressa Bare and Jenna Bare, three great-grandchildren, Leianna and Easton Wagner, Kaylee Ann Wagner and Merritt Wagner and several nieces and nephews.
