Arless (Hawk) Dickson Houck

Arless Dickson Houck, 88, of Todd, North Carolina, passed away on July 26th, 2022.  Arless, affectionately known as “Hawk”, was born on March 20th, 1934 in Ashe County to Everett and Eva Trivett Houck.  Hawk was a lieutenant in the Melbourne, Florida police department for over 30 years with a distinguished career in law enforcement.

In 1960, Hawk met Carla JoAnn Moritz, and they wed in February of 1961, going on to have two children, Stewart Kevin and Todd Allen Houck.  After retirement, Hawk and Carla settled in Melbourne, Florida and later in Todd, North Carolina.

Hawk is predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Lavone Swicegood and his brothers, Rex and Harold Dean Houck.  He is survived by his loving wife Carla, his sons Stewart and Todd and their wives DeAnn and Angela.   He is also survived by three grandchildren, Leyna Jennings, Geoffrey Houck (Autumn), and Amanda Bardin (Jeremy), as well as four great grandchildren, Skyler, Bella and Ivy Bardin, and Lincoln Houck.  He is also survived by four brothers, Jerry, Don, Michael and David Houck and three sisters Barbara Sheets, Bernice Prestwood, and Kathy Crepps.

A celebration of life will be private at a later date.
