Obituary

Susan Gail Corn Williams, age 73, of West Jefferson, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2026 at Watauga Medical Center. Born in Ashe County, she was the daughter of the late Eber Fieldman Corn and Betty Bennett Corn.

Susan attended Peace College and North Carolina State University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. On October 9, 1973, she married the love of her life, Clayton Wayne Williams, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, beginning a marriage that spanned more than five decades. Susan had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She especially loved working outdoors tending to her flowers and took great delight in decorating her home for the holidays, with Christmas being her favorite time of year. She also had a special place in her heart for children and found great joy in their presence. Susan will be remembered for her warm spirit, creativity, and the love she shared with those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Clanton Wayne Williams; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Ezzell of Clemmons; her niece, Julie Hedberg of Burlington, Wisconsin; and her sister-in-law, Judy Meeks of Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Leashomb.
