Steven Clay Houck, better known as Steve age 74 of West Jefferson passed away on Friday night, June 19, 2026 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. He was born on Saturday, August 25, 1951 to the late, Dean McKinley and Margaret Jean Stevens Houck. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Dean Houck, sisters, Linda Joyce Houck and Elizabeth Jeanie "Beth" Houck and his son, Eric McKinley Houck.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Mr. Houck is survived by: His wife, Betty Maine Houck, two sons, Brian Houck (Brittany) of Jefferson and Lance Houck (Cara) of Wilmington, five grandchildren, Kennedy Houck and Ethan Houck of West Jefferson, Lukas Houck and Lilah Houck of Wilmington and Grant Houck of Jefferson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
