IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherry Lynn
Richardson Blevins
October 30, 1969 – March 13, 2026
Celebration of Life
Ashelawn Memorial Chapel & Gardens
Starts at 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Sherry Lynn Richardson Blevins, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 13, 2026, in her childhood home in West Jefferson. Born on October 30, 1969, at the old Ashe Memorial Hospital, Sherry was a lifelong resident of the mountains she loved.
A 1988 graduate of Northwest Ashe High School, Sherry went on to pursue her passion for helping others at Wytheville Community College, where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her career was defined by service, both in the nursing field and later within the Ashe County School System as a teacher assistant. Sherry found her true calling working with Exceptional Needs Children. She was known for her fierce advocacy, often serving as a voice for those who couldn't speak for themselves to ensure every child’s needs were met with dignity and care.
She was known by all who met her as a kind and gentle soul, someone whose warmth and compassion left a lasting impression. Her caring nature, soft spirit, and genuine concern for others made her a comfort and blessing to everyone around her.
Sherry’s life was built on the pillars of Family, Faith, and Fun. Though she retired early due to health issues, she never lost her spark. She found joy in the simple treasures of life—thrifting for a "diamond in the rough" or starting a new craft project. Above all, her proudest accomplishments were her two daughters and her grandsons. She loved every second she got to spend with them.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Herbert Richardson, and her brother, Robert Richardson.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Reedy (Mitchell) of Damascus, VA, and Emily Blevins of West Jefferson; and her two cherished grandsons, Bryson and Cameron of Damascus. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Dick) Johnson of Crumpler; niece, Lora (TJ) Miller; and nephew, Kevin (Abi) Richardson. Her memory will be carried on by her great-nieces, Hailey, Leigha, and Gracie, her great-nephew, Owen, and her beloved cat, Tabby.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Brian Walls and Minister David Lyalls. The family will receive friends following the service at Ashelawn.
Memorials may be made to the family, c/o Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 US Hwy 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
Sherry’s legacy is one of resilience and compassion. She lived by the simple, powerful command to "Trust God and never give up," a lesson that will continue to guide those she loved.
