Rosa Lee Howell St. John, age 79 of Crumpler passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Margate Health and Rehab. She was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on November 4, 1946 to the late Wiley and Ola Pennington Howell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Martin St. John, two brothers, John Kenneth Howell and Joe Howell as well as two sisters, Virginia Barton and Barbara Richardson.
Rosa was a dedicated employee throughout her years of service with Broyhill Furniture and Greensboro Manufacturing. She was a hard worker and earned the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Outside of her career, Rosa found happiness at home and in nature. She had a special love for gardening, spending countless hours tending to her flowers and vegetables, nurturing them with care and patience. She also enjoyed canning, preserving the fruits of her labor to share with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was watching birds.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Caudill (Kelia) of Zionville and William Caudill Jr. of Laurel Springs, one sister, Wanda Shore of West Jefferson and one brother, Roger Richardson of Crumpler. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kristina Caudill and Kelsey Caudill Mease (Vaughn) and four great-grandchildren, Raynzlie Caudill, Vaughn Mease IIII, Meredith Mease and Brice Marshall as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Dwayne Tester and Rev. Russell Sheets. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm one hour prior to the funeral service.
Flowers will be accepted.
Rosa will be remembered as a hardworking woman with a kind and gentle spirit, someone who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her memory will live on in the gardens she tended, the traditions she cherished, and the love she shared with those around her.
