Ricky Doyle Barr, better known to all who knew him as Rick, age 77, of Crumpler, passed away Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026, at Glenbridge Nursing Care Center in Boone.

Born in Ashe County on December 3, 1948, Rick was the son of the late Howard and Aulsie "Mimi" Lewis Barr. He was a hard worker who spent 40 years in the paving industry, eventually retiring after a long career with Adams Paving.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Mickey Driver.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Ruth Elliott Barr; two sons, Randy Barr (Stephanie) of West Jefferson and Ricky Barr (Desiree) of Chicago; two daughters, Robin Little (Kevin) of West Jefferson and Kelly Barr of Crumpler; three brothers, David Barr (Janet) of Warrensville, Johnny Barr (Donna) of Jefferson, and Bill Barr (Brenda) of Jefferson; and four sisters, Janet Peterson of Boone, Margaret Brooks of West Jefferson, Opal Barr of West Jefferson, and Joni Barr of Jefferson. Twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday; one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family will be meeting at the home of Randy and Stephanie Barr at 222 Country Mountain Lane in West Jefferson.
