Retha Hurley Kimpel

Mrs. Retha Hurley Kimpel, age 82, of Jefferson passed away Monday morning, August 31, 2026 at her home.

There will be no services upon the request of Mrs. Kimpel.

She was born in Ashe County on May 31, 1944 to the late Fieldon and Flossie Hurley. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Ham, Duck Woods, Doris Woods and Norie Ham; three brothers, Ted Hurley, Howard Hurley and Chester Hurley.

Mrs. Kimpel is survived by: two sons Thomas Kimpel of Jefferson and Gilbert Kimpel of Northeast, MD; two sisters Reba Holt (Bob) of Jefferson and Effie Dickens of Elkton, MD; three grandchildren Tyler and Kaitlyn Kimpel and Brittany Jordan; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
