Randal Lynn Phipps better known as "Randy", age 67, of Warrensville, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, passing away in the sacred and comforting embrace of his beloved church. Born in Ashe County, NC on Tuesday, June 23, 1959, Randy was the son of the late John Lewis Phipps and Dorsey Arnold Pruitt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Terry Pruitt and his wife Elaine Richardson Phipps.

Randy was a hardworking man who built a long, dedicated career at Holston Glass Company, proudly retiring at the end of last year. Outside of work, he knew how to appreciate the simple joys in life. He loved being on the water, spending many happy hours boating and relaxing at the lake. A man of faith and community, Randy regularly attended Butler Baptist Church and always enjoyed visiting with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time and going to concerts with his good friend, Cindia Thomas. At home, he found great comfort and joy in the loyal company of his beloved dog, Abbey.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Amy Graybeal Branch and her husband, Mark, of Boone; his step-son, Jody Graybeal and his wife, Julie, of Warrensville; two brothers, Benny Phipps and his wife, Brenda, of Greensboro, and Dennis Phipps and his wife, Leslya, of Wilkesboro; and two sisters, Pam Phipps Parsons and her husband, Jeff, of Jefferson, and Becky Phipps and her husband, Pete, of Greensboro, two step-brothers, Kenny Pruitt and wife, Christie of West Jefferson and Keith Pruitt of Mountain City. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren—Emily Chapple, Alyson Lemon, Victoria Branch, and Haleigh Newland—and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral service to celebrate Randy’s life will immediately follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Dan Wood. Burial will conclude the services at New River Cemetery.
