Mrs. Peggy Shaw Perry, age 71, of West Jefferson, passed away Friday morning, May 8, 2026, at the Amorem Robbins Center in Hudson.
Peggy was born in Ashe County on May 11, 1954, to the late Glenn and Blanche Combs Shaw. A woman of remarkable strength and work ethic, Peggy retired from Ashe Services for the Aging after 33 years of dedicated service.
Known for her strong will and deep devotion to her family, Peggy found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an excellent cook who took pride in feeding those she loved, and she spent many happy hours tending to her flowers. Her legacy of hard work and fierce love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. J.D. Walton officiating. Burial will follow the service in Bethany Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the chapel for one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday.
Mrs. Perry is survived by: her husband: Tommy Perry, of 46 years of marriage; a son, Allen Shaw of Jefferson; a daughter, Cindy Parsons (Wayne), of Jefferson; a step daughter, Crystal Jones, of Todd; a granddaughter Courtney Shaw; step granddaughter, Amber Jones of Todd; grandsons Daniel Shaw of West Jefferson and Jack Treadway of Grassy Creek; brothers, Danny Shaw (Whitetop, VA), Tommy Shaw (Lansing), John Shaw (West Jefferson), Bill Shaw (Alabama), and Terry Shaw (Lansing); sisters, Jennette Dollar (West Jefferson), Retha Woods (West Jefferson), and Ina Greer (Jefferson); several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Shaw, and three sisters, Guyona Treadway, Diddie Shaw, and Darlene Shaw.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to the family, c/o Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 US Hwy 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
