Pauline Darnell, better known as “Polly”, age 95 of Jefferson, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at her home. Mrs. Darnell was born on February 5, 1931 in Ashe County to Lillie Darnell. She was preceded in death by her mother, a brother, Clifford Darnell, and two sisters, Wincie Darnell and Wancie Darnell.

She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who worked for Fred Colvard at Colvard Farms and 39 years at Grandview #1 Nursing Home, where she cared deeply for those she served. She enjoyed working with flowers and took pride in her garden, often sharing its beauty with family. Pauline was a faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church and will be remembered for her kindness, strong work ethic, and generous spirit.

Ms. Darnell is survived by: two sons, Dean Darnell of Jefferson and John Darnell of Wilkesboro; special friend, Carolyn Steelman; three grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany, and Nicki; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy Wurth and Rev. Fred Steelman. Burial will follow in the Eller Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, March 22, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
