Obituary

Ethel Pauline Osborne, better known as “Polly,” age 84, of Warrensville, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Born in Ashe County on January 19, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Emerson and Lula Elliott Osborne.

Polly truly never met a stranger. She genuinely loved being around people, a trait that shone brightly throughout her many years working in retail at CVS, Walmart, White Star, and Singleton's, where she welcomed everyone with a warm smile. At home, she found great joy working outdoors in her yard and was an incredible cook, famous for her wonderful homemade strawberry jam and apple butter. Her family, friends, and community will deeply miss her vibrant, welcoming spirit.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Gary Osborne and two brothers Elmer Osborne and Cecil Osborne

Mrs. Osborne is survived by:  two sons: Rick Osborne (Leslie) of West Jefferson, and Kenneth Osborne (Libby),of Crumpler. a brother: Bobby Dean Osborne (Alesia),  of Crumpler; four cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, with Elder Lundy Finley and Rev. Joey McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.

The family respectfully requests no food, please.
