Mrs. Nancy Katherine Dollar Canter, age 73 of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Margate Health & Rehab Center.

Nancy was born in Ashe County on August 17, 1952, to the late Dorothy Carolyn Perkins Dollar. A woman dedicated to those she loved, Nancy deeply cherished her son and her family. She found great joy in doing things for them and was especially talented and handy with crafts.

She is survived by: a son, Ben Canter (and wife, Melissa) of West Jefferson; a granddaughter: Tiffany Canter; a brother and two sisters; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; her son, Earl Hamm; and her daughter, Novella Hamm.
