Obituary

Melda Luzell Kennedy Fraley, age 66 of Crumpler, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Fraley was born on October 19, 1959 to Wade and Elizabeth Lester Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Melissa Hamm, a sister, Ann Kennedy, and brothers, Richard and Eddie Kennedy.

She was a loving woman whose greatest joy was caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She had a special talent for crafting and making beautiful flower arrangements, and her house was always filled with the beauty of her handiwork. Melda loved giving gifts and found happiness in making others feel special. Family dinners were among her favorite traditions, bringing loved ones together around her table to share laughter and create lasting memories. Fall was her favorite season, and she delighted in its colorful leaves, crisp air, and cozy gatherings. Her kindness, generosity, and love for family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Mrs. Fraley is survived by:  her husband, Jeff Fraley; two sons, Joe (Deysi) Blankenship of Crumpler and David (Stacy) Kennedy of Siler City; one daughter, Christy Blankenship of Siler City; six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Tessia, Vanessa, Cadence, Devin, and Matthew; one brother, Bo Kennedy; one sister, Mary Kennedy; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the funeral service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
