Mrs. Juanita Grayce Ham Main, age 81, of Jefferson, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Born in Ashe County on March 24, 1945, to the late Ray Russell and Virginia Grace Shepherd Ham, Mrs. Main was a familiar and welcoming face in the community through her many years working at the Roses Department Store service desk. A faithful member of Phoenix Baptist Church, she found great joy in listening to gospel music and dancing to country music. Above all, she loved gathering with family and friends and was well known throughout the area for her talent in the kitchen—especially her signature BBQ chicken.

Mrs. Main was preceded in death by her beloved son, Greg Main, and her parents.

She is survived by: Daughter: Missy Burgess (Rex) of Jefferson; Brother: Russell Ham of West Jefferson; Sister: Luvenia Moretz of Lincolnton; Grandson: Chance Burgess (Makayla) of Millers Creek; Several cherished nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Rex Eldreth officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the chapel.
