Joseph Wilson Earp Jr., age 61, of Boone passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1965 in Wilkes County, North Carolina to the late Josheph Wilson Earp Sr. and Mattie Jane Pearson Earp. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Heather Pennington.

Joseph dedicated much of his life to helping others through a career in emergency services that spanned more than three decades.

Joseph’s commitment to serving others began early in life when he started his career as a junior firefighter with the Boomer Fire Department. His passion for helping people continued to grow, leading him into emergency medical services. Early in his career, he was a member of Wilkes Rescue, where he served his community for approximately 20 years. He later worked as a paramedic with Stanley County EMS, Wilkes County EMS, Ashley Ambulance Service, and Blue Ridge Medical Transport, continuing to care for and assist others throughout the remainder of his career.

For Joseph, emergency services were more than simply a profession; they were a calling. He devoted countless hours to helping people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and his years of service reflected his compassion, dedication, and willingness to be there when others needed him most.

Away from work, Joseph enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching football whenever he had the opportunity. He also loved fishing, where he could relax, enjoy the outdoors, and make memories.

Mr. Earp is survived by one son, Jesse Earp (Bri Robey) one daughter, Makayla Phipps (Evan) and one brother also survives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Joseph’s memory will be cherished by his family, friends, former colleagues, and the many people he helped along the way.
