Obituary

Jewell Ann Sells Adams, affectionately known to all as “Judy,” age 88, of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Forsyth Medical Center. she was born on September 26, 1937 to the late, John Breece and Mary Elizabeth Johner Sells. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Adams.

A woman of unwavering faith and a beautiful Christian spirit, Judy dedicated her life to the Lord and to her family. She was a faithful member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church for sixty years, where she joyfully shared her love for the Lord by singing in the choir. In her later years, she found wonderful fellowship as a member of Divine Hope Baptist Church.

Judy found happiness in the simple, beautiful things in life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and tended to lovely flower and vegetable gardens. For as long as her health allowed, she loved sitting down to play the piano, filling her home with music. She also delighted in the beauty of nature, spending quiet hours watching the vivid cardinals in her yard and the hummingbirds that visited her feeders. Above all else, Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She loved them fiercely, supported them endlessly, and was immensely proud of each and every one of them.

Mrs. Adams is survived by a loving family who will cherish her memory: two sons: Mike Adams and his wife, Norma, of Crumpler; and John Adams and his wife, Jennifer, of Troutdale, VA; one daughter: Ann Eldreth and her husband, Rick, of Lansing; six grandchildren: Steve Adams (Tori), Amanda Black (Jimmy), Pamela Bennett (Joe), Autumn Lambert, Jaime Warren (Jonathan), and Jordan Adams (Megan). Eleven great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.

Funeral services to celebrate Judy’s life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Grassy Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Johnny Huffman and Rev. David Blevins. Burial will immediately follow in the Grant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm, prior to the service at the church.
