Jerry Allen Carpenter age 72 of Lansing passed away Friday night, January 2, 2026 at Ashe Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Ashe County, Friday, May 29, 1953 to the late Norman and Ottie Patrick Carpenter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, granddaughter, Megan Marie Carpenter, and sisters, Betty Sue Carpenter, Wanda Mae Carpenter, Shelby Hartzog and brother, Ernie Carpenter.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life was defined by faith, family, and a sincere desire to help others. A true family man, Jerry found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved most, especially his grandchildren. Whether browsing flea markets together, riding the Virginia Creeper Trail, or simply sharing everyday moments, he cherished each opportunity to create lasting memories and to be a strong Christian example in their lives.
As the youngest of his siblings, Jerry maintained a close and meaningful bond with his family, staying in frequent contact and valuing the connection they shared. His loyalty, kindness, and steady presence were a source of comfort and strength to those around him.
Jerry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, riding four-wheelers, and taking in the beauty of God’s creation. His faith was central to his life, and he found peace and guidance in reading his Bible, living out his beliefs through his actions and service to others.
A hard worker by nature, Jerry was the owner and operator of Jerry Carpenter Backhoe Service, working alongside his son, Jeremy Carpenter, they were known for their strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Jerry's generous spirit and caring heart left a lasting impression on friends, neighbors, and customers alike.
Those left to cherish his memory are; his loving wife: Martha Miller Carpenter; two sons, Colan Allen Carpenter (Jeanne) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeremy Worth Carpenter of Lansing; daughter, Anna Aliza DeBord (Derek) of Grassy Creek; sister, Wilma May of Jefferson; three brothers; Denver Herman Carpenter (Ann) of Lansing; Charlie Carpenter (Karen) of Warrensville and Dolan Carpenter of Elk Park; five grandchildren, Justin Carpenter, Sarah Carpenter (Garrett Barron), Blylei Blowers (Cody Blevins), Canyon DeBord and Logan DeBord; great-grandson, Liam Barron and the family is awaiting a new great-grandchild soon, step great-granddaughter, Libby Barron; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome at graveside services on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Carpenter Fairview Cemetery by Rev. Jimmy Williams and Rev. Dan Hess.

Jerry Allen Carpenter will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for family, and a life lived with purpose, humility, and compassion.
