Janet Sue Severt Hart, age 77 of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at her daughter's home in Elkin. She was born on February 10, 1949 in Ashe County to Mary Lee Severt. She was preceded in death by her mother, a daughter, Kimberly Hardin, and a brother, Bill Severt. 

Mrs. Hart cherished her family above all else and was deeply devoted to their well-being, always offering love, protection, and support. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including listening to Elvis Presley, tending to her yard, and nurturing her plants—she truly had a green thumb. She also enjoyed relaxing with classic westerns such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Walker, Texas Ranger. Known for her strong work ethic and kind heart, Mrs. Hart was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by: one daughter, Amy Wood of Elkin; two brothers, Benny Severt and Tony Severt, both of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Logan, Brandy, Briana, Gabe, and Kacie; six great-granchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. John Leek. Burial will follow in Orion Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at Ashelawn.
