James Franklin Severt, age 86 of Moravian Falls passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1940 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Thurmond and Sally Miller Severt. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Severt and Ruth Lyall, brothers, Arvil Severt, Earl Severt, Leonard Severt, Bryant Severt and infant brother, Bruce Severt.
James was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, whether he was casting a fishing line into a quiet stream or heading into the woods to hunt. Those moments in nature brought him peace.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, James never missed an opportunity to tell a joke or bring a smile to someone's face. His laughter was contagious.
Above all else, James was a devoted father and a proud grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He offered them unwavering love, guidance, and support, creating memories they will treasure forever.
Mr. Severt is survived by three daughters, Janet Alexander (Marty) of Moravian Falls, Donna Severt and Vickie Testerman (Tommy) all of Wilkesboro, one son, Danny Severt of Wilkesboro, two brothers, Wayne Severt, Odell Severt (Annie) both of Wilkesboro, six grandchildren, Brad Severt (Rebecca) of Wilkesboro, Kimberly Staley (Archie) of Jacksonville, FL, James Adcox, Ledonna Adcox, Daniel Testerman and Tommy Lee Testerman. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Charlie Bennett and Rev. Russell Sheets. Burial will follow in the George Miller Cemtery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.

James will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
