Gerald Hilton Stierwalt, born on October 31, 1961, in Melborne, Florida, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, May 2, 2026. He will be remembered as a dedicated engineer for hotels, whose hands were always skilled in making and repairing, a lifelong tinkerer who found joy in bringing things to life and solving problems with thoughtful precision.
Gerald cherished the outdoors, especially when the warmth of the sun was upon him. Beyond his talents in engineering and craftsmanship, he was deeply drawn to the sounds of rock ’n’ roll, expressing his passion by playing the electric guitar, a testament to his vibrant spirit and love of music.
He was a devoted family man, proud to carry forward the Stierwalt name with honor and love. Gerald is survived by his beloved son, Christopher Stierwalt, (Krystal Griffin), of Gastonia. He also leaves behind a brother, Harold Stierwalt, of Roaring River; a sister, Carolyn Thompson, of Morristown, Tennessee; and four cherished grandchildren: Shaun Miller, Christopher Stierwalt, Lilly Griffin, and Oliver Stierwalt. Several nieces and nephews also hold him dear in their memories.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin and Alliene Virginia Batcheler Stierwalt, whose legacies live on through him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the
Bethany Cemetery.
The visitation will begin at 12:00-1:00pm on Saturday; one hour prior to the memorial serice.
