Obituary

Dorothy Eller Goss better known as “Dottie” age 86, of Lansing passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2026 in the comfort of her home. Born on September 18th, 1940, Dottie grew up in a challenging time but always knew how to make the best of things. Spending time with her twin sister Patricia “Pat” Finley was a priority for her throughout her life, and her care for not only Pat, but other members of her family was evident. In her adult life, her work at Hanes and Sara Lee Knit Products expanded her reach of positive impact that she had on the lives of those around her. She worked diligently and passed down many skills learned in her trade to her children.

More important to Dottie than her family or occupation was her relationship with Jesus Christ. To those who knew her all of her life, or those who she only met once or twice, her primary concern was to win souls for Christ. At revival meetings, Sunday mornings, or just in her own kitchen, Dottie could always be found praising her God by lifting her voice in song.

Dottie is preceded in death by her parents: John and Zella Eller, husband Thomas Earl Goss, brother Burl Eller and sisters Patricia “Pat” & Margaret (Nick) Wilcox.

She is survived by her children Phyllis Goss Waddell (Robert) of Lincolnton, NC and Debra Goss McCoy (Marvin) of Lansing, NC. Four grandchildren Jonathan Waddell (Cati), Chelsea Goodson (Jason), Hannah Waddell (Michael), Brianna McCoy- Donachy (Connor) , five great-grandchildren, her siblings Johnnie Eller of Warrensville and Brenda Ellison of West Jefferson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel with Lundy Finley officiating. Burial will be in the Goss Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00pm prior to the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Goss Family Cemetery in care of Debra McCoy, 1897 East Little Horse Creek Road, Lansing NC, 28643.
