Carson Dean Howell, age 77, of West Jefferson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, July 12, 2026, at The Cranberry House in Newland.

Born in Ashe County on November 18, 1948, Carson was the son of the late Walter Calvin and Myrtle "Deanie" Jarvis Howell. Carson was a man who truly loved life’s simple pleasures. He was happiest when he was outdoors, whether he was out ginseng hunting or attending local cattle sales. Known for his warm, friendly nature and community spirit, he loved visiting with his friends and family. Carson truly never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by: two brothers, Dennis Howell of Wilkesboro and Jimmy Howell of West Jefferson; a sister, Dony Miller and husband, Lloyd of West Jefferson; Several beloved nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Walter Calvin and Myrtle "Deanie" Howell; three brothers: Calvin Howell, Alvin Howell, and Bobby Howell

• Funeral Service will be held on  Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. J.D. Walton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holman Patrick Cemetery.
