Obituary

Mrs. Carol Jean Marsh Billings Warden, age 84, of Crumpler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, October 28, 2026, at Margate Health & Rehab Center.

Carol was born in Ashe County on February 2, 1942, to the late Edwin James Marsh and Lora Jones Marsh. A devoted woman of faith, she was a dedicated member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—tending to her vibrant flower beds, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and tuning in faithfully to her favorite game shows. Above all, she cherished the time spent surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Robert Cleveland "Bob" Billings and Rex Savannah "R.S." Warden.

She is survived by: three daughters: Linda Wyatt (Roy) and Joyce Reedy (Stanley), both of Crumpler; and Judy Moss (Joey) of Shallotte, NC; Stepchildren: Jimmy Warden (Jaylene) of Yadkinville, and Susan Godwin of Wilkesboro; Brother: William E. "Bill" Marsh of Jefferson; Grandchildren: Robbie Wyatt (Kristen), Amanda Moss (Teneice), Jeremy Wyatt (Savannah), Cody Moss (Halle), Megan Reedy (Bradley) and Jordan Reedy (Katy); Great-Grandchildren: Aaliyah Greene and Jaxson Wyatt; Great-Great-Grandchildren: Maverick Moss and Santi Olivera; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Harry Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Flowers are appreciated by the family.
