Barry is survived by: his loving wife, Phyllis Medley Powers, his mother, Shirley Parsons Powers of West Jefferson, a stepson, Tony Plitt of Lansing, a brother, Robert Powers (Sarah) of Wilkesboro; a sister, Sharon Hartzog (Michael) of West Jefferson; Two step-grandchildren, Troy Plitt (Mecala) and Rachel Plitt; a special aunt, Judy Watson of Laurel Springs; several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hearl Kenneth Powers, and his twin brother, Gary Lane Powers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel (two hours prior to the service).
