Ralph Johnston Harless

Mr. Ralph Johnston Harless, age 84 of Jefferson died on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Margate Health and Rehab Center in Jefferson. Mr. Harless was born on May 28, 1932 in Ashe County, NC to Allen and Ola Johnston Harless. In addition to his parents Mr. Harless was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Pruitt Harless, sisters, Virginia Surber and Irene Phillips, brothers, Earl Harless, Hershel Harless, and Bobby Harless. Mr. Harless was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, and fishing. Mr. Harless was a people person who enjoyed visiting people and having company over. He was looking forward to the arrival of his great-grandson this June.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Guy Testerman and Rev. Charles McCoy. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Harless is survived by: Son, Michael (Lisa) Harless of Fleetwood, Son, Danny (Monica) Harless of West Jefferson, Son, Wayne (Theresa) Harless of Jefferson; Daughter, Martha (Jerry) Brinegar of Laurel Springs; Brother, Gilbert Harless of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Daniel Lee Harless, Derek Michael Harless, Matthew Cole Harless, Tyler William Brinegar, and Michaela Lynn Harless; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Kade Harless and Evie Jade Harless; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
