Edith Stanley Lindsey

Edith Stanley Lindsey, age 90 yrs of Warrensville, NC, died peacefully on June 4, 2014.
Edith was born on September 14th, 1923 to Mamie and E.G. Stanley in Ashe County NC. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Lindsey. Edith leaves behind her children: Clifford and Linda Lindsey, Richard and Ginny Lindsey, Rebecca and Dave Millsaps, and Jonathan and Barbara Lindsey; her 10 grandchildren: Wesley Lindsey, Leigh Ann Lindsey Brown, Joshua Millsaps, Scott Millsaps, Adam Millsaps, Ashley Lindsey, Jenna Lindsey, Zachary Lindsey, Savannah Lindsey and Dusty Lindsey; and her 7 great grandchildren: Charlotte Lindsey, James Lindsey, Lyla Brown, Afton Brown, Violet Brown, Katherine Millsaps and Caroline Millsaps. Edith was a beloved school teacher and taught a generation of kindergarten students at Riverview Elementary. She was a devoted member of Warrensville Baptist Church and dedicated herself to the children of the church. She was also an active volunteer at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Her compassion for others and strong belief in education enabled her to touch countless lives within the community. When Edith was not teaching or volunteering, she could be found tending to her flower garden, feeding birds, cooking and enjoying time with her family. She will be laid to rest in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that she loved so dearly. Services will be held Saturday June 7, 2014 at Warrensville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. She will be buried at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warrensville Baptist Church Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 286, Warrensville, NC 28693.
